Drum Sounds

Tabla: "Feytana"

This little tabla is actually a fun drum, its sound does not re-verberate into a high-tight ping, typical of newer professional tablas, rather a mellower tone.
Reason being, it has a musical history, of being played quite spectacularly by a life-time percussion musician here in the bay area, throughout the last 20 years.
It does have a hollower sound when played off the ground, that can "twang", as heard in the fourth recording.

20 second recordings or a 5 min. video:

I cannot yet, get the web-page audio feature to work with blogger and google drive. So, an icloud tune or google play app, may be required for the shorter clips.

5-minute Audio-Video:

This tabla drum is shorter with a wider wooden base.
Feytana is an older drum most likely from Calcutta India, from around 1995.
"Feytana" is on sale:
There are a few original wood stain speckles, on the rawhide, from the original makers.
All in all, an appealing drum, made from a heavy dark mahogany wood, weighing, 8 pounds 15 ounces.
Not bad as a learning drum, to start practicing, edge drills, etc.
The little drum is really classed more as a musicians drum rather than a drum used for decorative display.

Tablas drums, are known as the instrument of Shiva.

From The Tabla Family:

Feytana is pictured on the top row,
next to the guitar, in its "family photo".

Recording Info

Some of my recordings are from my cell phone or usb video, so, they sometimes do not have the true depth of the sound.

Drum Database Info

If the tabla is sold, this page will stay as a sound file resource, and be part of a tabla sound database, as there aren't that many tablas, constructed that gain video and audio notoriety.
