Drum Sounds

Tabla: "Uveyda"

The little tabla has a galaxy and planetary sound.
The twang is there,
however it is a good twang,
that adds to the arrangement.

This tabla is not as of yet,
listed for sale,

6-minute Audio-Video:

This tabla drum has a slightly wider wooden base.
Uveyda is an older drum most likely from Calcutta India, from around 1995.
Wood: a heavy mahogany wood.
Typical sounds available from this tabla, however it does need to be coaxed to achieve more personality.
The drum is not new, so the hide is not as clean as a drum used for decorations.

Drum Sounds

Tabla: "Tiano"

This little tabla has been wounded,
with a tiny pin prick in the center.
I have since filled it in with glue,
however I think the original damage
has changed its sound.

This tabla is not listed for sale,

4-minute Audio-Video:

This tabla drum has a slightly wider wooden base.
Tiano is an older drum most likely from Calcutta India, from around 1995.
Wood: a heavy mahogany wood.
A little bouncier in random twang sounds than some of the others.
The drum has a drop stain on the top goat hide, which could deter it from decorative use.

"Tabla drums, are known as the instrument of Shiva."

From The Tabla Family:

Tiano is pictured on the bottom row,
second on the left, in its "family photo".

Drum Sounds

Tabla: "Feytana"

This little tabla is actually a fun drum, its sound does not re-verberate into a high-tight ping, typical of newer professional tablas, rather a mellower tone.
Reason being, it has a musical history, of being played quite spectacularly by a life-time percussion musician here in the bay area, throughout the last 20 years.
It does have a hollower sound when played off the ground, that can "twang", as heard in the fourth recording.

20 second recordings or a 5 min. video:

I cannot yet, get the web-page audio feature to work with blogger and google drive. So, an icloud tune or google play app, may be required for the shorter clips.

5-minute Audio-Video:

This tabla drum is shorter with a wider wooden base.
Feytana is an older drum most likely from Calcutta India, from around 1995.
"Feytana" is on sale:
There are a few original wood stain speckles, on the rawhide, from the original makers.
All in all, an appealing drum, made from a heavy dark mahogany wood, weighing, 8 pounds 15 ounces.
Not bad as a learning drum, to start practicing, edge drills, etc.
The little drum is really classed more as a musicians drum rather than a drum used for decorative display.
